Why I Became a Coach

And why I chose to study with the Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy

My coaching journey started over 20 years ago when I was working for a well-known Australian Insurance company and I was promoted to Team Leader.

Coaching empowers individuals to think beyond their perceived limitations with its essence rooted in supporting people and unlocking potential.

I was tasked with leading 10 people and needless to say, I had no clue what I was doing - all I had was a burning desire to listen to, understand, empathise with, empower and inspire my team.

I devoured book upon book on everything related to leadership, personal development, motivation, and psychology, looking for ways I could empower and inspire my team.

Along with my thirst for learning, I had a natural ability to see beyond the blocks, behaviours, and negative stories that people tell themselves as to why they’re not good enough, or why they can’t do X - I was able to (and still can) see their full potential.

As the Universe conspired, a few months into my role, I was provided with external coaching training. I remember vividly the first day of training and the woman who came in to provide it. She was charismatic and empathic, and she had a wealth of skill, experience, and a genuine love for coaching that inspired me to want to be like her.

This inspiration led to thousands of hours of coaching practice, more training, and experimentation across a wide range of industries, teams, and people.

Why the BYCA?

The Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy came into my orbit at a time when I was looking for a way out of corporate. Although I was successful and well-paid, on the inside, I was feeling miserable and close to burnout.

With the little energy and time I had, I started dreaming of becoming a business owner. After brainstorming some pretty out-there ideas for months on end, my husband suggested I talk with a coach.

A few sessions into my coaching series with my coach, the idea that I could do what she was doing leaped into my mind. It was the perfect business that matched my skills, and, it had been right in front of me the whole time!

But I had zero experience in setting up or running a business and had no clue where to start. On top of that, despite all of my experience, training, and practice, I suffered badly from imposter syndrome and I thought I needed another training to qualify me as a life coach. This led to weeks of google searching and investigation until finally, I landed on the BYCA website and I felt like I’d come home.

From the colours (pink of course being my fav) and graphics to the heart-centred approach and the words from the magnificent founder, Julie Parker, I was blown away.

I absolutely adore everything that the Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy stands for:
